Everyday at the Plaza there’s an influx of activity. Donations arrive as often as 4 time a day. The food stand needs to be organized and stocked. Hot food needs to be served. The park needs cleaning. The garden needs tending. The garbage needs changing. This constant need for work, has motivated us to rely on our community to see us through. And after years of volunteer work, we decided to start paying our most devoted volunteers a weekly stipend.
Beyond that, we realized that we can also offer a way to increase their skill sets. So we often organize trainings and meetings to discuss ways to improve their job readiness.
Skills such as: communication, punctuality, responsibility, scheduling, research, computer skills, job search. Anyone who seeks to better themselves will find resources at the Plaza. Once we get to know the skill set of one of our trainees, we seek a job that will suit them and help them obtain it.
Please consider making a donation to help support Job Readiness program.
